Vietnam: 33 people reported dead or missing due to torrential rains and floods

By 10pm on August 7, as many as 33 people were killed or missing due to torrential rains and floods, according to the National Steering Committee for Flood prevention and Control.

Of the victims, 24 people were confirmed dead (11 in Dac Lak, one in Gia Lai, six in Lam Dong, one in Phu Yen, one in Dak Nong, three in Ha Tinh and one in Quang Binh) and the remaining people were reported missing (all in Dak Lak).

The natural calamity flatterned, swept away or submerged 65,709 hectares of crops and more than 49,270 houses, including 40,000 houses in Quang Binh, 6,370 houses in Dak Lak, 1,050 houses in Dak Nong and 1,159 houses in Lam Dong. About 191 traffic infrastructure and irrigation projects were damaged with estimated losses of billions of Vietnam Dong.

Currently, localities are implementing measures to evacuate people from flood and landslide-prone areas and provide them with food. Provincial authorities are also mobilizing sources and helping people cope with the complicated flood situation and overcome the appalling consequences of the disaster.

God bless Vietnam and people from all regions/countries affected by these rains and floods.
But they also need food and other support. Is it enough now?
